Outdoor Family Room

I have mentioned before that our house is cozy. And you know what that means...small. So we try to squeeze every inch of living space out of our house. That is where the outdoor family room comes in.

The loveseat and two chairs were purchased at Target a couple years ago.

So was the gazebo and outdoor chandelier. Last year I hung painters drop clothes as curtains to block the sun when it's setting. I haven't gotten around to hanging them this year; the trees we planted are finally giving us a bit of shade. When the bugs come out we zip up the screens. The deck is in sad shape, this will be its last season. I would love to turn this into a real screen porch one day.

This has been a great extra "room" for us. We really like sitting out here in the evening.

Daisies are blooming like crazy right now.

This is my favorite place to write my blog and read my favorites during the summer.

That concludes the tour of the family room addition. Wish you were here, the lemonade is ice cold!

  4. We have been putting off buying patio furniture for years now. I just never want to spend the $$. But this post has inspired me! We too have a "cozy" 2000 sq ft and you are so right about using the space outdoors. Thanks for the nudge in the right direction!

  7. Mmmmm, I wish I could come over and sit out there with you, sipping lemonade, watch our girls play together, talk about spray painting stuff.... We finally got a gazebo (from Target, too!) last summer to cut the heat on the deck, but I've no funds for that pretty pretty furniture. Looks like your hydrangea is doing great!!

  13. Megan, I'm happy to have inspired you! A lot of the outdoor furniture is on sale now.

Steph and Cassie, that would be so fun, I don't think we would run out of things to chat about.
    And yes...margaritas sound perfect!

Thank you everyone for the sweet comments!

  15. I have little "outdoor rooms" scattered about my small garden home yard. I read recently that it's not all about new bathrooms and kitchens in real estate lingo anymore. It's "do they have an outdoor room?" Because people can't afford to vacation as much, and want their yard to give them more square feet. Your sweet room looks so cozy I'd curl right up there with a magazine or book!
